Andrea Norris and Toyota of Corvallis received the Benton County Environmental Awards at the 4th annual Environmental Issues Advisory Committee public forum on October 27, 2016 at the Corvallis Public Library.
Andrea Norris, marketing and development coordinator at Oregon State University’s campus recycling program and volunteer Co-Leader of the Corvallis Sustainability Coalition's Waste Prevention Action Team, received the individual award for her efforts to move the community toward zero waste through outreach and education.

Oregon’s Material Recovery Rate for 2015 Tops 50 Percent for 5th Year in a Row
Portland, OR—Despite a rise in waste generation, Oregonians exceeded their goal to recover 50 percent of waste, taking into account recovery credits, resulting in significant energy savings and greenhouse gas reductions, according to the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality's 2015 Oregon Material Recovery and Waste Generation Report. The recovery rate is the percentage of the total waste generated by Oregonians that is recycled, composted or recovered for energy. In 2015 Oregon's calculated waste recovery rate was 50.3 percent.

Several Oregon family businesses will be honored at the Oregon State University College of Business’ 2016 Excellence in Family Business Awards ceremony on Wednesday, Nov. 2, at the Portland Hilton and Executive Tower.
Bill Stoller, co-founder of Express Employment, will speak at the event, which is sponsored by the college’s Austin Family Business Program. Domonic Biggi, president of Beaverton Foods, will emcee.
