RFP: Equity Training for the Board of the Association of Oregon Recyclers
At the annual conference in June, AOR has hosted a series of equity-related sessions and speakers throughout the years (2014-2018) to identify issues and raise awareness. AOR has also offered an equity training open to members in 2016.
AOR Legislative Committee Update - February 27, 2019

Oregon Settles Electronic Recycling Claims; Total Reclaim, Inc. Pays Oregon $553,750
Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum and the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality today announced a $553,750 settlement with Total Reclaim, Inc. The settlement resolves the state’s long-running investigation into TRI’s operations under Oregon’s E-Cycles program, a program that encourages Oregon consumers to recycle electronic devices in a safe and sustainable manner. This settlement follows resolution of a related DEQ penalty action against TRI in September, 2018 for alleged violation of the state’s hazardous waste laws.
Product Stewardship Bills Hit States
Lawmakers in Indiana and Washington are evaluating proposals that would shift end-of-life packaging management responsibilities from municipalities to product producers.
The Product Stewardship Institute (PSI), which promotes extended producer responsibility (EPR) programs nationwide, tied the recent legislative interest directly to current recycling market disruptions.

US Chamber Foundation expands Beyond 34 recycling initiative
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Washington, has announced the expansion of its Beyond 34: Recycling and Recovery for a New Economy initiative. The expansion includes applying the Beyond 34 model in a second region and developing a suite of online tools to allow any community to implement the model.
