CONFERENCE SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS:
With the generous support from our Scholarship Sponsor, Metro, AOR will award 15 scholarships to cover registration (which includes most meals) to its annual conference, which will be held at the Salishan Golf Resort in Gleneden Beach, Oregon on June 10-12, 2020.
Additional expenses, such as pre-conference tours, travel, and lodging are the responsibility of the recipient. The conference is a great opportunity for recipients to build their network, and find opportunities for jobs/internships in the solid waste and recycling industry.
AOR welcomes all regardless of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of its activities or operations. We are committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all members of our staff, committee members, event participants, volunteers, contractors, exhibitors and all Oregonians. AOR values the well-being of all Oregonians and supports the conditions upon where we work and live that result in health and happiness.
We believe the opportunities and challenges within the garbage, recycling, waste reduction and reuse industry impact everyone. Our scholarship program is intended to provide opportunities for people and communities that have experienced systemic oppressions and we encourage all to apply.
Please Note: If you apply for a scholarship and are not selected to receive one, you are invited to register to attend the conference at the discounted student rate.
Recipients of a Sustainable Oregon Conference Scholarship are asked to:
- assist at the registration desk during the event
- write a summary for the AOR blog about one of the sessions they attend
- assist with tasks during the conference such as silent auction set up/check out, serving as room monitors, assisting with signage, checking in exhibitors, etc.
Contact Amy Roth, AOR's Resource Director if you have any questions about the conference or scholarships to the conference.
