Whales of Guerrero - Fundraiser Collaboration with Lloyd EcoDistrict
Whales of Guerrero, a non-profit locate in Portland, is excited to get more people involved with one of the most exciting and successful models for community-driven conservation work in action in the world today. The Whales of Guerrero uses science to connect people with nature and kick start conservation. The cornerstone of our conversations are the greatest marine ambassadors in the world: WHALES.
Here is a short video about their work: Whales of Guerrero
Since 2013, the organization has partnered with the community of Barra de Potosi, a fishing village in Southwest Pacific Mexico, to transform peoples’ relationships with whales and the entire marine ecosystem through citizen science, ecotourism, and community development and education programs that reach 2000+ kids each year. In just six years, Whales of Guerrero has catalyzed a commitment in Barra de Potosi to restore the endangered fishery and a new generation of ocean champions are bringing up the rear for long-term success.
A fundraising event will be happening in Portland (Lagunitas Community Room. 237 NE Broadway St, Portland, Oregon 97232) on Saturday 09/07 from 6-9pm to support their projects.
