In response to a request received from an interested party, DEQ has extended the public comment period for the first draft PRO program plan submitted by CAA from 40 days to 61 days. The new deadline for comments is May 31, 2024, at 5 p.m. PDT. The extension will allow interested parties more time to review the plan while also ensuring that public comments are received with enough time for DEQ to consider them when formulating recommendations to the prospective PRO.

Summary

DEQ has added an eighth Recycling Modernization Act Rulemaking Advisory Committee meeting. The meeting has been scheduled for April 16^th, 2024, on Zoom. The purpose of the meeting is to present the fiscal impact and racial equity impact statements.

Summary

The seventh Recycling Modernization Act Rulemaking Advisory Committee will be held on April 3, 2024, on Zoom.

The Plastic Pollution and Recycling Modernization Act requires the Oregon Environmental Quality Commission to establish by rule the methodology, procedures, and requirements to be used by producers of covered products when conducting evaluations of life cycle environmental impacts pursuant to the Act.

DEQ will be holding a public meeting for the Mattress Stewardship Program on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2023, from 1:30-4:30 p.m. to review a prospective stewardship organization’s recently submitted program plan.

The PNW Regional Symposium is held annually each spring and is sponsored jointly by the the Oregon (Beaver), Washington (Evergreen) and British Columbia (Pacific) Chapters of the Solid Waste Association of North America. Each chapter takes turns hosting the event, rotating location every year. Such a collaboration helps to renew a sense of community with our neighbors, both professionally and recreationally, bringing solid waste specialists together for over 30 years!
