This presentation will provide a high-level overview of site considerations for anaerobic digestion facilities, from state regulations and permitting to feedstock analysis, site design and layout, water, and digestate. Anaerobic digesters are typically established in locations that meet specific criteria. These include sites with a steady supply of organic materials, such as farms (where animal manure and crop residues are abundant), water resource recovery facilities (WRRFs), food production facilities, and landfills. Additionally, stand-alone digesters can be constructed centrally to accept organics from multiple businesses. Throughout the presentation, we will explore proper siting and design considerations which are crucial for efficient and effective anaerobic digestion systems.
