Learn about the Governor's Executive Order on Climate Change: Webinar on Thursday, May 21
You will learn about DEQ’s plans to reduce food waste through prevention and recovery by 50 percent by 2030.
This presentation is in response to Governor Brown’s Executive Order 20-04, “Directing State Agencies to Take Actions to Reduce and Regulate Greenhouse Gas Emissions.” DEQ was tasked with implementing a range of programs to reduce GHGs, including reducing food waste. Because no models exist for achieving a 50 percent reduction in food waste in 10 years, DEQ will need to implement existing opportunities, while simultaneously developing new approaches to reduce food waste.
During this webinar, DEQ Director Richard Whitman and other DEQ staff will discuss our roll-out plans and opportunities to engage in a variety of policy and program development opportunities over the coming months.
In addition to the food waste reduction directive, the webinar will cover the following topics:
- Clean Fuels directives
- Cap and Reduce directive
- Landfill/methane directive
