DEQ Rulemaking - SB 263 Materials Management Workgroup Meeting
The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality will hold a public workgroup meeting on how local governments can satisfy the new contamination assessment and reduction component of SB 263’s expanded education and promotion recycling program element.
DEQ is implementing SB 263 through proposed administrative rule amendments. DEQ appointed an advisory committee to review issues related to the proposed rules. The committee has met three times.
At the most recent advisory committee meeting, DEQ presented draft sample implementation plans for satisfying the expanded education and promotion program element’s contamination assessment and reduction aspect. Committee members requested an additional workgroup meeting, before their fourth and final meeting on September 13th, to discuss DEQ’s draft sample implementation plans.
This workgroup meeting’s scope is limited to DEQ’s draft sample implementation plans for assessing contamination and taking action to reduce contamination. This workgroup meeting is not an advisory committee meeting. DEQ’s draft proposed rules are outside of this workgroup meeting’s scope, as the advisory committee process is still ongoing, and DEQ’s draft sample implementation plans will not be included in rule.
