DEQ Sustainable Materials Management Program Update

DEQ’s Materials Management Program will host a public meeting on January 26 from 1 - 3 p.m. to discuss recent progress in implementing the 2050 Vision and Framework for Action, and our plans for 2017 and beyond - including but not limited to implementation of Opportunity to Recycle changes.

A series of short presentations followed by discussion will provide an opportunity to share information, ask questions and discuss priorities.

Metro Solid Waste Forecast Presentation

As you may recall, Metro released its solid waste forecast in October 2016.  The forecast is used for many purposes, such as tonnage allocations, budgeting, planning and policy direction.  As an opportunity to learn more about the forecast, Metro staff will present and discuss the methodology, terms and concepts used to develop the most recent forecast.  This will be an opportunity for local governments, industry and the public to learn more about the process, the results and how Metro uses the forecast to make decisions.

Paint Recycling: More Fun Than Watching It Dry

Hear from Clark County, the American Coatings Association, Stericycle, PaintCare, and tour MetroPaint in Oregon to see how paint is sorted, batched and made back into latex paint. This Washington Recycles Every Day (WRED) event is from the Washington State Recycling Association (WSRA).

WSRA Social Marketing with Nancy Lee

Join WSRA and Social Marketing expert, Nancy Lee for a 2 day seminar on social marketing. The course is interactive and provides opportunities for participants to learn about social marketing and creating a marketing plan. Participants walk away not only with the knowledge but with a practical plan that they can then use in other areas of their work.

Reuse, Repair and Product Lifespan Extension Project Meeting

Please join Oregon DEQ for a project update and engagement session for the Reuse, Repair and Product Lifespan Extension project. At this meeting, participants will be asked to assess 11 options DEQ has identified as potential projects or activities that can reduce environmental impacts through extending the lifespan of products via repair or reuse, including support for Oregon’s repair and reuse industries.
