Who Auctions Used Electronics?

27 Jan 2016

The Northeast Recycling Council has begun a project through the State Electronics Challenge to explore the practice and the prevalence of public sector auctioning.

They are looking for information about any public sector entities – state agencies, municipalities, counties, etc., - that auction electronic equipment that has been taken out of service.

The purpose of the project is to:

  1. Document current practices, including when public auctions are used (e.g., age and condition of equipment) versus contracting with electronics recycling vendors, and the different ways in which public entities execute auction programs.
  1. Provide best management practice recommendations to promote the appropriate and responsible disposition of end-of-life electronic equipment.

If your public sector organization auctions electronic equipment (or you know of organizations that do), please contact Lynn Rubinstein.
