Oregon DEQ Reduce, Reuse, Reimagine Grants are Live!
The pre-application for the Oregon DEQ Reduce, Reuse, Reimagine Grants is live! The grants program was paused in 2020 to address some of the inequities and inefficiencies of our application process and to better align the program with the 2050 Vision for Materials Management and 2020 Framework for Action.
The DEQ grants team worked with Start Consulting Group to implement diversity, equity, and inclusion-centered program updates that are as clearly defined, effective, and inclusive as possible. Some of those improvements are:
- Funding amount: Awarding up to $1 million in grants during this first cycle.
- Upfront funding: The majority of funds will be disbursed up front, instead of by reimbursement. Disbursements will be made in several installments over the grant period.
- Funding range: The project funding range is $25,000 to $125,000. Projects may take up to two years to be completed.
- Annual Funding Area: There will be an annual funding area each year. This will help interested applicants know if their project meets our program’s funding priorities. The 2024 funding area is Waste Prevention.
- Application process: The application process with begin with a simple pre-application. Following an eligibility screen, the most competitive projects will be invited to submit a full application.
- First-time applicants: Extra points will be awarded to first-time applicants and we strongly encourage projects that address inequities in BIPOC, rural, and underrepresented communities to apply.
You can learn more about the grant program, the waste prevention funding area, and eligibility criteria in their program guidebook and on our website.
