NERC to Host Sustainable Materials Management Conference

26 Feb 2017

The Brattleboro, Vermont-based Northeast Recycling Council (NERC) has selected the Sheraton Burlington Hotel in Burlington, Vermont, as the host location of its Spring 2017 Conference, to take place March 15-16.

NERC says the conferences programming is being designed to address “some of today’s most critical issues concerning sustainable materials management.” The event, which carries the theme “Full Speed Ahead,” will include presentations focusing on strategies for surmounting current barriers to diverting more materials from disposal, according to the council.

The conference will open include remarks from Julie Moore, secretary of the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources, and from keynote speaker Bridget Croke of the Closed Loop Fund, which has been created to provide funding to increase the diversion of recyclables from waste streams.

Other speakers include representatives from recycling companies, solid waste districts and recycling-related associations.

NERC describes itself as a multi-state non-profit organization that is committed to environmental and economic sustainability through responsible solid waste management. More information on the conference, including the full agenda, can be found here.
