What is your name? Diane Williams
In what University/College are you currently enrolled, or if an Americorps Volunteer, where are you working/volunteering? Not enrolled in a college or University but always wanted to study Black history.
Tell us about your major or current career path: I am retired but volunteer in many sustainability projects. Black Health Maters w/ NxNE Health Clinic, Master Recycling w/ Metro, and sharing tools w/ Tool Library. Now I have recently gotten involved with Sabin CDC, Black Growing Gardens, and Black AARP. Want to reach out to the NAACP here in Portland too.
Are there any particular segments of the recycling/materials management industry that you would like to work in? Getting some more produces into sustainable and recyclable container. Reuse, repurpose, so we can restore our environment. Make the manufacturers accountable for their packaging. Have them use better materials that are recyclable.
Are there any particular AOR members that you would like to meet? Not really. Just to get a better understanding of what they do.
What motivates you to recycle and live sustainably? To save the planet from so much waste.
If you were an animal, which one would you be and why? I would be a cat because they are so independent.
