What is AOR?

The Association of Oregon Recyclers (AOR) is a member-based 501(c)(6) nonprofit that supports professionals working in recycling, waste prevention, and sustainable materials management across Oregon.

We:

  • Host events, forums, and our annual conference
  • Engage in legislation and advocacy on issues affecting recycling and materials management
  • Share industry news, jobs, and best practices
  • Support networking and professional development
  • Provide education and training (like Recycling 101)

AOR is a professional association — we do not provide recycling services or local program support.
 

How is AOR is involved in legislation?

As a 501(c)(6) membership organization, AOR represents the interests of its members and the broader recycling community.

We:

  • Track and engage in state legislation and policy discussions
  • Provide input on laws and regulations related to recycling and waste prevention
  • Help ensure policies are practical, effective, and informed by industry experience
     

What can I recycle in Oregon?

What is Circular Action Alliance (CAA)?

Circular Action Alliance (CAA) is the producer responsibility organization (PRO) responsible for implementing Oregon’s Recycling Modernization Act.

CAA:

  • Helps fund and improve recycling systems
  • Works with producers, governments, and service providers
  • Provides information about accepted materials and system changes
     

Where can I recycle special items (paint, batteries, electronics, etc.)?

Special items are not accepted in curbside recycling and must be taken to designated drop-off locations.

Who do I contact if I have a problem with my recycling or garbage service?

Contact your:

  • Garbage/recycling hauler (missed pickups, carts, service issues)
  • City or county solid waste program
     

Who is in charge of recycling rules and enforcement?

Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is responsible for:

  • Regulations and enforcement
  • Oversight of the Recycling Modernization Act
  • Approving program plans (including CAA)
