What is AOR?
The Association of Oregon Recyclers (AOR) is a member-based 501(c)(6) nonprofit that supports professionals working in recycling, waste prevention, and sustainable materials management across Oregon.
We:
- Host events, forums, and our annual conference
- Engage in legislation and advocacy on issues affecting recycling and materials management
- Share industry news, jobs, and best practices
- Support networking and professional development
- Provide education and training (like Recycling 101)
AOR is a professional association — we do not provide recycling services or local program support.
How is AOR is involved in legislation?
As a 501(c)(6) membership organization, AOR represents the interests of its members and the broader recycling community.
We:
- Track and engage in state legislation and policy discussions
- Provide input on laws and regulations related to recycling and waste prevention
- Help ensure policies are practical, effective, and informed by industry experience
What can I recycle in Oregon?
Recycling rules vary by location, but Oregon is transitioning to a more consistent system under the Recycling Modernization Act.

What is Circular Action Alliance (CAA)?
Circular Action Alliance (CAA) is the producer responsibility organization (PRO) responsible for implementing Oregon’s Recycling Modernization Act.
CAA:
- Helps fund and improve recycling systems
- Works with producers, governments, and service providers
- Provides information about accepted materials and system changes
Where can I recycle special items (paint, batteries, electronics, etc.)?
Special items are not accepted in curbside recycling and must be taken to designated drop-off locations.
