On September 15, 2015, DEQ will open its 2015 round of materials management grants for projects that prevent, recover, or reuse solid and household hazardous wastes.  DEQ expects to award up to $500,000 in materials management and HHW grants to local governments from across the state in early 2016.  

Grant application forms and instructions will be available at this website starting Tuesday, September 15, 2015.  All completed applications are due Monday, December 14, 2015.

Under current DEQ rules, grants from this round will be available only to local governments with solid waste management responsibilities.  Other interested public or private entities may partner under subcontract to a local government, and are strongly encouraged to meet with them as soon as possible to explore project concepts.

DEQ has started rulemaking to allow grants to other public and private entities as well as local governments. It expects those rules to be in place for the next grant round, planned for summer 2016.
