Lauren Scher

Lauren Scher is currently the Oregon and Washington Program Manager for PaintCare. In this position, she is responsible for correspondence with state agencies, overseeing state program staff, and managing on the ground operations.  Prior to this role, Lauren served as the Oregon Program Coordinator for PaintCare. Relevant experience includes a position at Portland State University as a Development/Fundraising Coordinator.

Lauren has an MPA from Baruch College (New York, NY), and a BA in Cultural Studies from Stony Brook University (Stony Brook, NY).

Relevant board experience includes a position on the board of a local community theater, as well as an organization dedicated to distributing books to youth.

How long and in what capacity(s) have you been involved with AOR (committees, conferences, tours ,etc.)?

I have attended the AOR conference for the last few years. I enjoy staying up to date on all AOR activities through the newsletters and webinars. Last year, I was able to volunteer and assist with recruitment of donations for the AOR silent auction.

Why would you like to serve on the AOR Board of Directors?

I previously ran for a seat on the AOR Board of Directors last fall. When considering a second run, I thought about the value that AOR has provided me. When I entered the recycling world over six years ago, I came in with little to no knowledge about the industry. What I found in AOR, was an extremely welcoming group that was accessible and ready to advise on any topic I might have had a question on. I am passionate about AOR's vision, particularly about accessibility for all Oregonians to these important recycling services. As an employee of an industry-led program, I am also highly engaged in the future of EPR programs in Oregon. I hope to represent members, at all different levels in their careers, and to provide them with an organization that is as beneficial to them as it is to me. Although I cannot be at the June Forum, I hope you will consider voting me in as an AOR board member.
