The Past, Present, and FUTURE of Product Stewardship in Oregon

18 Dec 2018

Join BRING Recycling for their EPR Luncheon on Wednesday, January 9  from11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Salem Convention Center, 200 Commercial Street SE

Product stewardship is the idea that companies should be responsible for the entire lifecycle of products they manufacture, including designing products so they are easier to reuse or recycle and paying for disposal at the end of their usable life. These programs conserve resources, create jobs, and can have a notable impact on public safety. Oregon has a strong history of product stewardship programs such as the Bottle Bill and PaintCare. In the 2019 legislative session, we have more opportunities to keep Oregon beautiful and safe by supporting legislation to properly manage prescription medications, recycle mattresses, and receive funding for statewide hazardous household waste disposal.

Join BRING, a nonprofit dedicated to providing vision, leadership, and tools for living well on the planet we share, as we take a look at Oregon's past product stewardship successes and inform stakeholders about what's possible in 2019 and beyond. This educational gathering is our first step to engage Oregonians in supporting product stewardship. Lunch will be provided.
