8 Jun 2023

Danielle Womble - incumbent

My name is Danielle Womble and I am a Western Region Recruiter for Waste Connections (2022-current), previously the Commercial Recycle Coordinator for our Vancouver District since 2014. I have served the last two years as the Conference Chair on the AOR Board of Directors and have been a volunteer with the conference committee for the two years prior to that. I also volunteered as a conference committee member for WSRA for two years.

I am a Master Composter/Recycler (2015) and received my Recycling 101 certification in 2014 through OSU/AOR. I have a Bachelors of Science in Natural Resources from Oregon State University (2012), a Women in Leadership certificate from Cornell and am working on my Servant Leadership certification through Cornell.

I live in Vancouver with my husband of 15 years and my two teenage daughters, 3 cats & 2 dogs. I love learning about historic architecture, gardening and home projects, kayaking, hiking and volleyball. I am always on the go to school sporting events with my kids and as a family we love to attend concerts and hockey games.

How long and in what capacity(s) have you been involved with AOR (committees, conferences, tours ,etc.)?

I have been involved with AOR committees, conferences and tours since joining the Waste Connections family in 2014. I have been an attendee and also a volunteer for activities/events over the past 9 years and have volunteered on the conference committee for two years prior to serving as the Conference Chair on the Board of Directors for the past two years.

Why would you like to serve on the AOR Board of Directors?

I would like to continue to serve on the AOR Board of Directors because this has been one of the most fulfilling roles that I have taken on in the waste industry. It is challening and enlightening, in addition to being a position that I continuously learn and grow in. I love our AOR community and believe the work we do is for the greater good in Oregon and beyond. The amazing people I have had the pleasure of meeting while serving on the board (and also in general at conferences, events and committees) are a big part of what motivates me to serve.

What skills, expertise, and experience do you possess that would be make you a valuable addition?

I am extremely organized and proficient with various computer technologies such as Microsoft and Google applications, Adobe, Zoom, Canva. I have experience utilizing social media platforms for marketing and outreach/education. I have strong networking skills and build relationships with honesty, integrity and genuine respect for people. Having served as the conference chair has provided me the experience in planning/logisitics to execute a successful annual conference. My knowledge of the waste/recycling/compost industry spans almost 10 years (and hopefully many more). I have a long history of public speaking and leading tours and an Interpretive Ranger certification from OPRD.
