Lane County’s Waste Management Division Seeks Public Input

Lane County’s Waste Management Division is seeking public input on its update to the regional Solid Waste Management Plan, including potential strategies to increase waste diversion from the landfill. 

This update seeks to be a cooperative effort among citizens, local governments, and private industry stakeholders to develop an effective Solid Waste Master Plan that will guide regional efforts through 2030. It is an opportunity to seek new and innovative solutions and partnerships that will support a healthier community.

September kicks off Phase 2 of Lane County’s Solid Waste system assessment (Phase 1 was the internal assessment of our operations) with a series of meetings for the public, for stakeholders* and for the business sector. This is proceeded by an All Citizen call-out for  input via a short Online Survey. 

Three Public Meetings each will start with an Open House,  from 5-6 pm for educating citizens about the county’s waste infrastructure:

  • Monday, September 19, 6:00 p.m.–7:30 p.m., Eugene Atrium Building Lobby (99 W. 10th Avenue, Eugene)
  • Tuesday, September 20, 6:00 p.m.–7:30 p.m., Florence Events Center (715 Quince Street, Florence)
  • Wednesday, September 21, 6:00 p.m.–7:30 p.m., Creswell Community Center (99 S. 1st Street, Creswell)

There will also be:

  • Stakeholder meetings will be located at the Goodson Training room:
    • Tuesday, September 20th, 1:30 – 3:00 pm
    • Wednesday, September 21st,  1:30 – 3:00 pm
  • City representative meeting will be located at Harris Hall at the PSB
    • Monday, September 19th  9:00 – 10:30
  • Business and Industry Meeting will be held for small and large businesses associations at PIVOT Architecture 44 w.Broadway
    • Wednesday, September 21th   11:30 – 1pm
